What I found when I searched Redcar
Between 19 and 22 October 2026 I searched Google set to Redcar, the way a customer standing on the High Street would, and checked the businesses with 4.5 stars or more. Three things stood out:
- “Barber Redcar” is crowded. Of the 8 well-reviewed barbers I checked, only one made the top 7. One with 4.9 stars from 111 reviews was 14th, below shops with far fewer reviews.
- Reviews alone don’t decide it. For “landscaper Redcar”, a business with 5.0 from 35 reviews was 1st, while another with 5.0 from 55 reviews was 16th. Neither had a website; what Google could read about them made the difference.
- Quieter searches are wide open. For “beauty salon Redcar”, two salons with 5.0 from only 9 or 10 reviews sat 2nd and 4th, and on both the Website button just opened Facebook. In searches like that, a proper website and a tidy Google profile can be enough to stand out.
Up the coast it’s similar: three well-reviewed Saltburn and Skelton barbers came 1st, 3rd and 5th for “barber Saltburn”, none with a website of their own.
Why a Redcar website needs to name Redcar
Someone in Marske searching “electrician near me” and someone in Middlesbrough searching “electrician Redcar” see different results. Google shows businesses it understands are close and relevant, and it can only understand what you tell it. So every site I build says plainly that you’re in Redcar and which places you cover, in the page titles and the headings.
