How much does a website cost in the UK?

Usually between a few hundred and a few thousand pounds for a small business, depending on who builds it. Mine are fixed: £295 for up to 3 pages, £595 for up to 6, and from £1,500 for bigger sites, half to start and half when it goes live.

How much does a website cost in the UK in 2026?

For a small business, a professional website usually costs somewhere between a few hundred pounds and a few thousand. Who builds it makes the biggest difference:

Those ranges come from UK designers’ and agencies’ own published price guides (for example Whito’s UK website cost research), so treat them as a rough guide, not a rule.

What a website costs with me

I’m Jack, a web designer from Eston. My prices are on this page, and bigger jobs get a fixed quote, so you know the full cost before we start:

You pay 50% to start and 50% before the site goes live, and you get 2 rounds of changes. Extra work is £40 an hour, agreed before I do it.

Why is mine cheaper than an agency?

It’s just me, so there’s no account manager, office or sales team in the price. I build every site by hand from my own tested parts instead of starting from a blank page, which keeps the hours down without making it look like a template. You talk to the person building your site from the first message to launch.

What’s included, and what usually costs extra

The cheapest quote often isn’t the cheapest website. Things other quotes leave out, which you should ask about:

Do I need a website at all, or is Facebook enough?

Plenty of Teesside businesses run well on Facebook and word of mouth. The catch shows up on Google: when someone searches “[what you do] Middlesbrough”, Google mostly shows websites and Google profiles, not Facebook pages. If you’re not sure, a free Found Check shows where you stand right now, and sometimes the answer is a £149 Search Fix rather than a new website. More on whether you need a website at all. See SEO in Middlesbrough, or whether SEO is worth paying for.

How much does a small business website cost in the UK?

Most UK price guides put a 5-page brochure website from a freelancer at about £1,500 to £3,000, and from an agency at £3,000 to £5,000. With me it’s £295 for up to 3 pages or £595 for up to 6, and bigger sites are quoted from £1,500. Every price is fixed and agreed before I start, with the Google basics included.

How much does a website cost per month?

With me, Care is £40 a month for hosting, updates and 30 minutes of edits. Grow is £99 a month and adds Google profile posts, reviews and a report.

Is a cheap website worth it?

It depends what’s missing. A cheap site that loads slowly, says nothing about your town or was never connected to Google can cost you customers. Ask any designer what’s included for Google, who writes the words and who owns the domain before you compare prices.

How long does it take to build a website?

A Starter site of up to 3 pages goes live in 7 days and a Business site of up to 6 pages in 10 working days, once I have your details and photos. The quickest jobs are the ones where the words and photos are ready.

Do you build websites for businesses outside Middlesbrough?

Yes. I’m from Eston and build for businesses across Teesside, from Stockton and Redcar to Guisborough and Hartlepool, and for clients across the UK and further afield. Everything is done by message, email or a call, so where you are doesn’t change the price.
